Recce Team in Preparation for the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit

 

 

Diplomatic group of ASEAN Member Countries is making an on-site inspection in preparation for the ASEAN-RoK Commemorative Summit to be held in Jeju early June this year.

 

SEOUL-based diplomats comprising of ASEAN member countries visited Jeju on 2 April 2009 in preparation for the ASEAN-Korea Commemorative Summit, which is scheduled to be held on 1-2 June 2009. The trip was coordinated by the Preparatory Office for the ASEAN-RoK Commemorative Summit.

 

The diplomatic group composed of Ambassadors of ASEAN Member Countries namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Viet Nam. They visited various places related to the Summit such as Jeju International Airport and Jeju International Convention Centre. Other officials included from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Cheong Wa dae (Presidential Office) and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

 

The group also visited major facilities including hotels, Spirited Garden and Jeju Folk Village Museum where the Summit would make site tours to. The Summit is held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ASEAN-RoK Dialogue Relations.

Barely two months ahead of the ASEAN-RoK Commemorative Summit, ASEAN Ambassadors travel to Jeju to tour the venues for the Summit. 11 Leaders at the Summit will discuss the development of cooperative relations between RoK and the countries in the ASEAN region over the past 20 years.
