The Embassy of Malaysia was duly represented by its Deputy Chief of Mission at the distinguished Societas Koreana Lecture Meeting, convened by the Centre for International Affairs of the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) on 30 September 2025 at the Westin Josun Hotel, Seoul. The gathering, graced by approximately 40 selected participants, served as an important platform for frank, high-level academic and diplomatic exchange.
The session featured a keynote lecture by Professor Dr. Leif-Eric Easley of Ewha University, who addressed the timely and pertinent theme, “Seoul’s Diplomatic Diversification and Sending Credible Signs”. Against the evolving backdrop of strategic tensions on the Korean Peninsula and the intensification of US–China rivalry, Professor Easley cogently argued for a recalibration and diversification of Seoul’s foreign policy. He emphasised the imperative for the Republic of Korea to strengthen its engagements with ASEAN and India, thereby enhancing strategic autonomy and resilience while contributing constructively to regional stability.
