EMBASSY OF MALAYSIA IN VIENTIANE, LAO PDR
MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR EXTENDS GOOD WISHES TO ATHLETES OF THE LAO PDR WHO WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE 29TH SEA GAMES & 9TH ASEAN PARA GAMES
Mr. Mohd Aini Atan, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Lao PDR extends his good wishes to the Lao PDR delegation and athletes who will participate in the upcoming 29th Southeast Asia (SEA) Games (19 to 31 August 2017) & 9th ASEAN Para Games (17 to 23 September 2017) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The good wishes was extended during his Courtesy Call on Her Excellency Madam Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun, Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR on 11 August 2017 at the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR.
During the Courtesy Call, Mr. Mohd Aini expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Education and Sports of Lao PDR, National Olympic Committee of the Lao PDR and other Agencies for the success of co-organising the Rising Together Baton Run in Vientiane on Saturday, 18 March 2017. The Baton Run, which attracted more than 3000 participants in Vientiane, had created awareness to the people of the Lao PDR about the SEA Games, spark excitement and celebration leading up to the SEA Games and reflected the spirit of togetherness among SEA countries.
Prior to the Baton Run, the Malaysian Women’s Rugby team participated in the Asia Rugby Women's Sevens Trophy 2017 in Vientiane on 17-18 February 2017, as part of preparation to the 29th SEA Games. Lao PDR and the Philippines also took part in the tournament.
Mr. Mohd Aini also extended his good wishes to Her Excellency Madam Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun, Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR, who is going to lead the Lao PDR entourage during the 29th SEA Games in August 2017 in Kuala Lumpur.
During her forthcoming visit to Malaysia, Her Excellency Madam Sengdeuane, in her capacity as the Minister of Education is expected to explore efforts to enhance cooperation between Malaysia and the Lao PDR in the field of Basic Education.
To note, Malaysia and the Lao PDR have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in Higher Education, which is effective since June 2010 and is automatically renewed every five (5) years, unless either parties decide otherwise.
