MALAYSIA HOSTED FOOD AND TRAVEL FAIR 2019

 

The Embassy of Malaysia in Vientiane, Lao PDR and Tourism Malaysia Vientiane organised a two-day Malaysia Food and Travel Fair 2019 on 5-6 October 2019 at Vientiane Center. This year is the 8th Food and Travel Fair promoting Malaysian food and tourist attractions since 2006.

 

The Opening Ceremony of the Food and Travel Fair 2019 was launched on 5 October 2019 by His Excellency Mr. Mohd Aini Atan, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Lao PDR and His Excellency Mr. Savankhone Razmountry, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Lao PDR as guest of honour. After delivering his opening remarks, both Ambassador and the Deputy Minister stroked the Khong to launch the Malaysia Food and Travel Fair 2019 as well as the logo of Visit Malaysia 2020.

 

H.E. Mr. Mohd Aini led His Excellency Mr. Savankhone and other guests to visit the 12 booths set-up at the Fair. Out of the 12 booths, seven (7) booths were dedicated to the tourism sector/travel agents, such as Lao National Tourism Administration; Tourism Malaysia Vientiane; Analine Travel; Ninhomlao Tour; Mina Travel; Worldwide Journey Services; Aspen Holidays while the others were dedicated to offering Malaysian cuisines such as Four Seasons Restaurant; Flavours and Spices Restaurant; Sihom Kopitiam; Ladies Association of the Embassy or PERWAKILAN; and Lim Seng Huat (selling dry food made in Malaysia).

 

The two-day event also showcased several types of dances by our cultural troupe from Tourism Malaysia, which is specially flown from Kuala Lumpur. The cultural troupe performed the welcoming and opening dance during the Opening Ceremony.

 

In addition, the troupe performed four (4) times a day, with four (4) different types of dances, portraying our multi-racial backgrounds from all over the country, such as “Dia Datang, Inang Bergending, Joget Si Pinang Muda, Zapin Tenglu, Chinese Dance, Indian Dance, Borneo Dance, Opening Rodat, Inang Cina, Zapin Beradat, Layar Batuta, Joget Klebang, Wau Bulan, Dikir Puteri and Visit Truly Asia – Malaysia”.

 

The types of food sold at the two-day event were Curry Mee, Rojak, ABC Ais Kacang, Teh Tarik, Flavours and Spices Restaurant: Squid Biryani, Chicken Biryani, Roti Paratha/Canai and Dhal, Samosa, Nasi Lemak, Nasi Goreng, Mee Goreng, Bihun Sup, Nasi Kerabu, Satay, Karipap, Soto, Rendang and Pulut, Bubur Kacang and dry foods.

 

In addition, there were various activities such as quizzes and games played as well as lucky draws for visitors during the Fair. The two-day Malaysia Food and Travel Fair 2019 event were opened to all visitors from 10.00am to 8.00pm.
