- Welcome to the Year End Reception and Visit Malaysia 2020 Promotion hosted by the Embassy of Malaysia in Vientiane.
- In five days, we will usher in the new year of 2020. It has been an eventful 2019 for the Embassy of Malaysia as we continue to engage our stakeholders in strengthening bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Lao PDR.
- At the same time, it is equally important that we take time to reflect and to take stock on our experience this year, to better prepare ourselves for the year of 2020.
- 2020 will be a busy year for Malaysia. With the theme Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020, we believe that Malaysia will be able to cater to every visitor’s interests. There will be a lot cultural events on display throughout the year.
- There are more than 100 events lined up to showcase our diverse culture and traditions for Visit Malaysia 2020. Some of these events are Royal Floria Putrajaya, Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur Fabulous Food Hunt, Malacca River International Festival and the many Open House celebrations of the different races in Malaysia.
- Visit Malaysia 2020 will be the 5th edition under the Visit Malaysia tourism campaign. The first was in 1990 which was also launched by the then and current Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
- Malaysia aims to see 30 million international tourist arrivals in the year 2020 and bring in total tourist receipts of RM100 billion (USD24.1 billion).
- Today, joining us here is also our Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Alumni who have successfully completed their short term training course in Malaysia for the year 2019 and some, the years before.
- I believe that they have had a wonderful experience during their courses in Malaysia. I do hope that you will be able to share your experiences with your colleagues about our wonderful country and encourage them to Visit Malaysia in the year 2020.
- On this note, I look forward to welcome all of you to Visit Malaysia in the year 2020.
- I would also like to wish you all a Happy New Year 2020. Please savor our Malaysian delicacies prepared specially for the event by the PERWAKILAN ladies, Four Seasons Restaurant, Sihom Kopitiam as well as from our Home Based Staff.
- Later, we will showcase ketupat weaving demonstration as well as kuih Buah Melaka demonstration. We will also have a 3-piece band called Victory Band that will be entertaining us for the rest of the evening.
- To this, I hope all of you will enjoy the food and the company. Thank you for coming, Kob Chai Lai Lai and Happy New Year 2020. Do visit us Truly Asia Malaysia 2020!
