HARI RAYA AIDIL FITRI CELEBRATION IN YANGON, MYANMAR
Muslims in Myanmar celebrated Hari Raya Aidil Fitri on 21 September 2009. It is a joyous occasion for Muslims, as it signifies a personal triumph, a victory of self-restraint and abstinence, symbolising purification and renewal.
Despite being away from home, Malaysians living in Myanmar celebrated the festival with full happiness and joy. Prayers, food and visiting friends and family are the main essence of the celebration which distinguished Malaysian culture and tradition from others.
TYT Dato’ Mazlan Muhammad, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Union of Myanmar as the head of Malaysian community in Myanmar and Datin Norini Moktar hosted “Hari Raya Open House” at their residence in Yangon. Nasi Impit, Redang Daging, Lodeh, Kuah Kacang, Satay, Mee goreng, Lemang and Hari Raya cookies were among the delicacies served for the guests. About 120 people attended the open house celebration.
