Travel Advice

In response to inter-communal violence and unrest, the Embassy of Malaysia advises against all but essential travel to the following areas:

 

i)            Townships of Meiktila, Mahlaing, Tharzi and Wundwin in Mandalay division, where theMyanmar Government has declared a state of emergency and imposed curfews from 6pm to 6am,  and;

 

ii)                 Townships of Gyobingauk, Otepho and Min Hla in Bago Region where the Myanmar Government has imposed curfews from 6pm to 6am.

 

Malaysian nationals in other areas of Myanmar are to be vigilant, exercise caution and monitor local media reports. Please comply with the advice and instructions of the police and local authorities in the case of unrest or outbreak of violence.

Avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings. In the case of any sign of unrest, Malaysian nationals are advised to return to their accommodation immediately and remain there until the situation stabilises.
