Following to inter-communal violence and unrest in the city of Mandalay starting from 1st July, the Myanmar authorities have imposed a curfew beginning on 3rd July starting from 9.00 pm to 5.00 am. Until the situation improves, the Embassy of Malaysia advises against all but essential travel to Mandalay city.

Malaysian nationals who have to travel to Mandalay are advised to be vigilant, exercise caution and monitor local media reports. Please comply with the advice and instructions of the police and local authorities in the case of unrest or outbreak of violence.

Avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings. In the case of any sign of unrest, Malaysian nationals are advised to return to their accommodation immediately and remain there until the situation stabilises.
