The High Commission of Malaysia in Abuja wishes to inform all Malaysian citizens in Nigeria that protest and demonstrations are ongoing across major cities in Nigeria including Abuja and Lagos. Please take note that even though most demonstrations are peaceful, some have become violent and have shut down major roads and highways, with police stations have been reported to be targeted. The State of Lagos have implemented a 24-hour curfew starting at 4:00 p.m. on 20 October 2020.
The High Commission would like to continue to urge all Malaysian citizens to avoid areas around the protests and demonstrations and to check local media for updates and safety advisories. Additionally, all Malaysian citizens are also urge to continue to be vigilant and avoid areas affected by the protests.
