On 19 December 2019, Mission successfully hosted an industry talk on the Islamic Finance Industry in Malaysia to the top bankers in Nigeria. The talk was given by YBhg. Professor Dr. Akram Laldin, CEO of the International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance under Bank Negara Malaysia. He is also a well-known scholar on Islamic Finance and member of several international committees, including the Shariah Committee of Bank negara Malaysia. The event was held in cooperation with Mr. Norfadelizan Abdul Rahman, Managing Director of TAJ Bank Nigeria.
The objective of the talk was to showcase Malaysian leadership in the Islamic Finance industry as well as to share latest developments from Malaysia to members of the Islamic Financial Institutions in Nigeria. The event was also to promote Malaysia’s Islamic Finance industry and to portray Malaysia’s role as the world’s Islamic financial hub as promoted by Bank Negara Malaysia. Islamic finance market is currently worth USD 3.5 trillion globally and Malaysia is the world leader in this financial segment.
