NIGERIA MTCP ALUMNI PROGRAMME, 13 NOVEMBER 2019
The High Commission of Malaysia in Abuja, Nigeria successfully organized the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Alumni Programme on 13 November 2019 at the chancery. The programme served as a networking session among the MTCP participants from Nigeria to share their experience and knowledge gained during their attended MTCP courses between 2010 to 2019, and to establish an interim (pro tem) alumni committee to work together with the High Commission in organizing future MTCP alumni programmes.
- A total of 30 alumni and representatives from the High Commission of the Republic of Cameroon, Consulate of the Central African Republic and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) attended the programme. The programme began with opening remarks by the master of ceremony followed by slide presentation by Mr. Mohd Yunus Ibrahim, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., where he shared information on Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and background of MTCP including its philosophy, objective and the key are of expertise.
- After the presentation, the alumni were given the floor to share their experience and knowledge gained during the attended MTCP programmes. Afterwards, the alumni elected the interim committee to lead the MTCP Alumni of Nigeria, which they elected the president, vice president, secretary I and II, treasurer I and II as well as the public relation officer. The elected interim committee members are attached as annexure.
- During the programme, majority of the alumni shared their positive experience and unmatchable knowledge that they have gained during their MTCP Programme. They lauded the commitment of the government of Malaysia to share its experience and expertise on human capacity building programmes with other developing countries including Nigeria. They mentioned that the network build during the programme has been maintained until present day, even long after the programme ended.
