His Excellency Ambassador Nik Mustafa Kamal bin Nik Ahmad, presented his Letters of Credence as the High Commissioner Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria to His Excellency Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua, the President of the Republic of Nigeria on 30th April 2009.
The ceremony was held at the State House on 30th April 2009 in a very simple yet colourful mode. His Excellency Nik Mustafa Kamal was driven from the Chancery with outriders to the State House. His Excellency was received by the Chief of Protocol who introduced him to the State Chief of Protocol. His Excellency Nik Mustafa Kamal then inspected the Guard of Honour while the military band played the greeting anthem.
His Excellency Nik Mustafa Kamal was accompanied by his spouse, Madam Siti Fatimah, Second Secretary Mr. K. Saravanan and Third Secretary Mr. Mohamad Firdaus Oging.
The ceremony was also attended by the H.E. Chief Ojo Maduekwe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and other state officials. At the end of the ceremony, His Excellency Umaru Musa Yar’Adua invited the High Commissioner and Madam Siti Fatimah for a closed door discussion.
Later in the evening, His Excellency and wife hosted a High-Tea to celebrate the occasion. Amongst those attended the reception were ASEAN Heads of Mission, the Director of Protocol, the Deputy Chief of Protocol and Malaysians residing in Abuja. Malaysian delicacies such as mi-hoon soup, roti jala with chicken curry, curry puffs, kuih bakar and goreng pisang were served to the guests.
