On 8 August 2015, all ASEAN Embassies in The Hague celebrated ASEAN Day. The celebration was hosted by H.E. Mr Ittiporn Boonpracong, Ambassador of Thailand, at his Residence in Wassenaar. During the event, all ASEAN Heads of Mission in The Hague signed a joint letter requesting the ASEAN Secretary-General’s concurrent for the establishment of an “ASEAN Community The Hague.” After the formalities, a fun day of family activities followed. Each ASEAN Embassy in The Hague contributed one or two tasty traditional dishes. Besides the Heads of Mission of Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia–all based in The Hague, the Ambassadors of Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia and the Representative of the Lao PDR Embassy in Brussels also attended the event. Mr Jan Hoekema, Mayor of Wassenaar, and Mr Peter Potman, East Asia Division Director of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also joined the festive celebration. |
