On 12 May 2026, the Embassy of Malaysia participated in the opening ceremony of the “Threads of Heritage: Weaving Southeast Asia’s Living Tradition” exhibition, organised by the Embassy of Indonesia in The Hague.
In line with the exhibition's objective to showcase and promote the unique craftsmanship and living traditions of Southeast Asia in the Netherlands, Malaysia submitted three pieces of textiles reflecting its rich cultural heritage and diversity, namely, samping songket, kain kebat, and Dupatta shawl.
During the event, H.E. Dato’ Roseli, Ambassador of Malaysia, took the opportunity to brief the guests on the historical background of each textile piece from Malaysia, reiterating their unique nature and influences across the many ethnic groups within the country.
