Malaysia Forum in Auckland
The Malaysia Forum, the first economic cooperation project under the Malaysia-New Zealand FTA, took place in Auckland on 6th December 2013. The event was co-hosted by New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade (MFAT) and the Malaysian High Commission in Wellington, and co-sponsored by NZTE, ANZ-Ambank, ASEAN-NZ Business Council and MIDA.
The forum to promote business and investment opportunities in Malaysia was attended by more than 100 people and was officiated by Minister for Economic Development Hon. Steve Joyce.
Three keynote speakers who presented on doing business with Malaysia and leveraging the FTA: Patrick Teo, CEO of BCS; Senthil Balan, a New Zealand alumnus and the Group Head Network Strategy of Air Asia X; and Chew Seng Kok, a New Zealand alumnus and the Regional Managing Partner of ZICOlaw, one of the largest law firm in Malaysia.
Two interactive workshops on “Investment and business environment in Malaysia” and “Practical Issues under the FTA” were also well attended.
