26 May 2014 marked the 2nd year anniversary of the inception of the ASEAN Ladies’ Circle (ALC) in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. In celebration, the ALC organised a pastry cooking class held at Shangri-La’s, Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Sultanate of Oman. The pastry class was conducted by Mr. Wolfgang Schwaerzler, Executive Pastry Chef and was attended by all 5 patrons of ASEAN member states accredited to the Sultanate of Oman as well as respective ALC members from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore.

The pastry class started with a short tour before heading to the pastry kitchen to learn 3 recipes from Mr. Schwaerzler; Chocolate Muffin, Focaccia Bread and Chocolate Tart. The class was indeed an eye opener with many  interesting questions posed by  the ‘students’ and many useful tips given by the highly acclaimed pastry chef. Those presents were indeed happy to be given the opportunity to watch up close and personal and work hand in hand with the Executive Pastry Chef of a prestigious hotel as well as to learn a tips or two on pastry making from the chef himself.

At the end of the class and after all the pastries were baked, ALC patrons and members were invited to taste the product of their ‘hard labour’ for a well deserved breakfast served with a cup of mochaccino - complimentary from the hotel. Before the start of breakfast, YBhg. Datin Dr. Musrifah Sapardi, Chairman of ALC reminisces on the history of ALC followed with a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the inception of ALC in Muscat. A group photo was also taken as a token of remembrance of this memorable coffee morning event before everyone had their late breakfast at 11.30 am!
