ASEAN Ladies Circle (ALC) in Muscat Organised Talk on MERS-CoV

On 13 May 2014, the ASEAN Ladies Circle (ALC) in Muscat organized a talk on the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-CoronaVirus or widely known as MERS-CoV. The informative 1 hour talk was presented by Mr. Abdullah Al Saidi , World Health Organisation (WHO) representative to Oman and was attended by the wives of ambassador’s from ASEAN countries accredited to the Sultanate of Oman and respective ALC members from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

 

The talk touches on the definition of MERS-CoV, its possible causes, the symptoms and preventive measures to be taken to reduce the chances of infection. It was an interactive session during the question and answer with members posing some interesting questions to the speaker. The informative session was also surprised with a short quiz on MERS-CoV with prizes courtesy of Madam Dounghatai Danvivathana, wife of the Ambassador of Thailand which hosted the event at her official resident.

 

The day ended with the presentation of souvenir by YBhg. Datin Dr. Musrifah Sapardi, President of ALC in Muscat, to Mr. Abdullah Al Saidi as a token of appreciation. The speaker and guests were later feted to a delicious array of traditional Thai cuisine prepared by the host.
