Consular Notice No. 4

To All Stranded Malaysians in Muscat,

The Embassy has observed that several passengers have opted to procure their own flight tickets to depart from Muscat. To ensure a smoother and safer travel, we wish to provide the following guidance:

1. Engage Your Travel Agents - We strongly advise all passengers to coordinate with their respective travel agents when booking flights. Many airlines have temporarily suspended online ticketing systems, and travel agents may have direct access to available flights. In the event of flight cancellations, your travel agent will be able to assist with rebooking the next available flight.

2. Secure Transit Visas - Ensure that any required transit visas are secured prior to departure to avoid travel disruptions.

3. Based on the Embassy’s inspection of Muscat Airport this morning, most airline counters remain closed. Passengers are therefore advised not to purchase tickets directly at the airport. While information regarding luggage from previous flights is still unavailable, passengers may proceed with booking their flights, as the affected airlines may arrange for these items to be forwarded to their final destinations.

4. Available Flights via Travel Agents - Several airlines continue to have flights available for booking through travel agents, including Oman Air, Salam Air, Indian Airlines, and Biman Air. Passengers are encouraged to check with their agents for the latest availability.

We urge all stranded passengers to plan their travel through authorised channels and maintain regular communication with their travel agents for updates on flight schedules. The Embassy continues to monitor the situation closely and work diligently to obtain updates to assist affected passengers.
