Muscat, 11 October 2011 - H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Rustam Yahaya received a courtesy call by Mr. Tuan Razali Tuan Omar, Director of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia) who is based in Dubai, UAE. Tuan Razali was accompanied by Mr. Hafiz Abdul Rahman, Deputy Director, and Mr Amir Muhammad Hanif, Marketing Manager.
During the meeting, both H.E. Ambassador and Tourism Malaysia’s Director discussed on the nature of tourism arrivals to Malaysia, particularly from the Middle East region, and strategies that Tourism Malaysia has adapted to woo tourists particularly from the Sultanate, to visit Malaysia. H.E. Ambassador also shared his ideas on the possible strategies to attract more tourists to visit Malaysia in the future.
Malaysia has been enjoying the increase of tourist arrivals from Oman every year. In 2010, more than twenty thousand Omani tourists visited Malaysia. As a matter of fact, Oman Air, on code share with Malaysia Airlines, has commenced direct flight to Kuala Lumpur from Muscat since May 2010. Initially with four flights weekly, Oman Air’s flights to Kuala Lumpur has been increased to daily basis. To many Omanis, Malaysia has been more like their second home with abundance of tourism attractions readily available for them. The Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat will endeavour its best ability to further cooperate with Tourism Malaysia and will remain active in disseminating information on Malaysia and its tourism attractions and packages to the locals.
