The Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat hosted a dinner in honour of YABhg Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, Wife of YAB Prime Minister at Al Bustan Palace Hotel, Muscat on 17 January 2010. Around 200 Malaysians in Muscat attended the said event.
During his welcoming remarks, Charge dÁffaires a.i. of the Embassy, Mohd Norhisyam Mohd Yusof praised Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah and her delegation that consisted members of the Welfare Association of the Wives of the Cabinet Minister and Deputy Ministers of Malaysia (BAKTI) for agreeing to attend the Dinner despite thier busy schedule during the visit to Muscat. He further said that Malaysians in Oman were excited to meet in person with the Wife of the Prime Minister. He also said that it was rarity for a person of such stature to spend time to interact with eager Malaysians who did not want to miss the opportunity to meet with the First Lady of Malaysia. Also attended was YBhg Datin Sri Rubiah Abdul Samad, Wife of YB Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During her speech, YABhg Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah’s praised Malaysians here for being able to contribute to Oman's development, but nonetheless reminded them to come home at some point in the future. The wife of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the fact that Malaysia could "export" professionals overseas showed that the country had developed the right strategies in terms of human capital development.
"But please remember Malaysia. Don't forget to come home because the country needs you as well," she told a gathering of Malaysians working and residing in Oman.
YABhg Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah said they should do their best in undertaking their respective duties and also strive to maintain the good name of the country.
YABhg Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah's presence at the event created quite a stir, with the Malaysians taking the opportunity to shake hands and pose for pictures with her.
The Embassy would like to thank al Malaysians who have spent their time and traveled all the way, as some were coming from Nizwa and Sohar to attend the event. The Embassy described that the dinner was yet another successful event under the “Program Mendampingi Rakyat Malaysia”.
