H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Rustam Yahaya and Y.Bhg. Prof. Madya Datin Dr. Musrifah Sapardi hosted a Reception in conjunction with the 55th Anniversary of the National Day of Malaysia on 7 November 2012. The event was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Muscat and was attended by more than 200 guests consist of Omani Government Officers, Ambassadors and foreign diplomats based in Muscat, businessmen, representatives of corporate sector as well as Malaysian community in Oman.
The event was graced by the attendance of H.E. Al Syed Sulaiman bin Hamood bin Ali Al Bousaidi, Deputy Secretary of Cabinet as Guest of Honour; H.H. Sayyid Mohammed bin Salim Al Said, Chief of Protocol Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Mohammed bin Yousof bin Qassim Al Zarafi, Undersecretary for Administrative & Financial Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Engineer Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Bousaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior; H.E. Ambassador Abdullah bin Salim Al Shanfari, Deputy of West Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Consultant Dr. Saif bin Omran Al Amry, Deputy of West Asian Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs also joined the Reception.
Following the national anthems of both Malaysia and the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Rustam Yahaya gave a welcoming remarks and invited the Guest of Honour and the other dignitaries for the cake cutting ceremony.
The guests were also treated to a sumptious meal prepared by the hotel as well as special varieties of Malaysian kuih muih among others kuih koci, karipap, kole kacang, kuih lapis, kuih angku, kek lapis Sarawak, cucur badak, kuih bakar kemboja and bingka ubi prepared by PERWAKILAN Muscat.
The Embassy also featured an exhibition of books and pamphlets by Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Education.
