The heavy rain that poured Muscat and several parts of the country on 1 November 2011 have flooded roads, creating huge traffic jams, accidents, and pile-ups in several parts of the city. As of to-date, twelve victims were reported dead after they had been swept away by flood.
It was reported that many vehicles parked on roadsides were swept away. Rain water also entered some houses and shops. Heavy floods were seen at various parts of the city especially wadi areas. However, situation has returned normal since 2 November 2011 and people citizens have resumed their daily activities since then. Weather forecast indicates that Muscat will experience possible cloudy skies during the week beginning 6 November 2011. Chances of rain during the day on 9 November 2011. No rain is forecasted on 10 November. Malaysians in Oman are advised to avoid wadi areas in the event of heavy rain pour to avoid any possible flood. The Embassy will keep all Malaysians informed of any development if occurs. The Embassy also appreciates it if Malaysians across the Sultanate could report to the Embassy should they encounter any difficulties due to weather.
