The Gulf Higher Education Exhibition 2011 (GHEDEX 2011), a yearly higher education fair and exhibition was held in Muscat from 19 to 21 April 2011. For this year, GHEDEX 2011 has attracted about 20,000 visitors. Being the leading high profile Omani event dedicated to higher education, career and training sectors, GHEDEX 2011 represented a comprehensive one-stop show for students, parents and education providers to be acquainted with study and training options in and outside the Sultanate.
Malaysia also participated in GHEDEX 2011. Exhibitors from nine institutions of higher learning that included University of Science of Malaysia, University Technical Malaysia Melaka, Taylor’s University, HELP University College, SEGI University College, Asia Pacific University College of Technology and Innovations, Curtin University Sarawak, Multimedia University Malaysia and the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. Beside that, MY Aspiration Sdn. Bhd., a private company that has been involved with promoting the Malaysian Higher Education in Oman was also participated in the event.
Malaysia has been one of the favourite place to the Omani to pursue their higher education due to the various reasons. The cost of study and cost of living in Malaysia, beside the excellent standard of education has prompted many Omani to study in Malaysia. It is therefore imperative for the Malaysian side, both government and the private institution to further intensify Malaysia’s education promotion in Oman.
