On 7 March 2017, H.E. Shahril Effendi Abd. Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Sultanate of Oman, attended the Islamic Finance News (IFN) Oman Forum 2017 at the Grand Millennium Hotel, Muscat. The forum was organised by Capital Market Authority (CMA) with support from various partners including Bank Nizwa, Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector and International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation.
The forum offered an insight into Oman’s economic development, Islamic finance and capital market with representatives from leading Islamic finance banks in Oman such as Bank Muscat, Bank Dhofar and Bank Nizwa engaging in open discussions. Fellow Malaysian, Mr. Kemal Rizadi Arbi, Advisor with Oman’s Capital Market Authority, was a panelist on the legal and regulatory framework of Islamic finance during the Forum. The exhibition booths also saw the participation of Finance Accreditation Agency, an independent quality assurance and acceditation body supported by Central Bank of Malaysia and Securities Commission Malaysia.
