MALAYSIA-OMAN GOLF TOURNAMENT 2012

Muscat, 21 February 2012 - The Organising Committee of the Malaysia-Oman Golf Tournament 2012 received today sponsorships from the National gas Company SAOG and Tebodin & Partners LLC. During a cheque presentation ceremony held at the Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat,  the Committee was represented by His Excellency Dato’ Rustam Yahaya, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Sultanate of Oman whereas National Gas Company was represented by Mr. Goutham Sen,  its Chief Executive Officer, while Tebodin & Partners by its Managing Director, Mr Salim Al-Khindi. The two companies have agreed to sponsor the said tournament which will be held on 5 & 6 April 2012 at the Mines Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

 

During his remarks, H.E. Dato’ Rustam Yahaya said that the bilateral relations between Malaysia and Oman are on  the upswing with the increase number of tourists between both countries, as well as an unprecedented increase of bilateral trade and investments recorded in 2011. According to the Ambassador, golf is not merely a game, but also served as conduit to enhance further the already warm and cordial relations between the two brotherly countries. Hence, the Malaysia-Oman Golf tournament, which will be the third yearly event, could enhance the people to people  relations between the two countries.

 

Both the National Gas Company and Tebodin & Partners have business interests in Malaysia. The National Gas Company is expected to invest in Malaysian LPG business, apart from their existing gas cutting technology services, while Tebodin & Partners is planning to set up an office in Kuala Lumpur as part of its business expansion programme into Southeast Asian region.

 

The third Malaysia-Oman Golf Tournament will be first to be held outside Oman. This friendly tournament has attracted players from various fields and disciplines including senior government officials and senior executives of various companies from both countries. Both games in 2010 and 2011 were won by the Omani side.
