Muscat, 21 February 2012 - The Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat has participated in the ASEAN Cultural Show 2012. The Show was an initiative by the Embassies of the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Muscat in cooperation with Muscat Municipality in conjunction with the Muscat Festival 2012 at Qurum Natural Park, Muscat.
During the event, the Embassy set up a booth to promote Malaysian tourism destinations, with the officers from Tourism Malaysia distributed pamphlets, brochures as well as giving out souvenirs to the visitors. The Embassy also brought in a cultural troupe consist of ten dancers from Istana Budaya to perform at the ASEAN Cultural Show as well as Muscat Festival 2012 main stage. The Istana Budaya dancers were so engaging with the local spectators as they were not reluctant to join the dancers to perform various Malaysian dances on the stage. At the same time, Ladies Association of the Embassy of Malaysia (PERWAKILAN) took part in the event by selling Malaysian authentic foods.
The ASEAN Cultural show which was inaugurated on 19 February 2012 and will conclude on 22 February has attracted thousands of visitors from various countries and has been considered as one of the major attractions during the Muscat Festival 2012. The Show was considered a success as it has featured ASEAN rich multicultural heritages and showed ASEAN solidarity among its members.
