PERWAKILAN Muscat took part in a charity bazaar event organized by Global Café in aid of the Al Rahma Charity on the 15th February 2014 held at the Sur Ballroom, Muscat Holiday Inn. Under the patronage of Her Highness Dr. Taghreed Binti Turki Al Said, the distinctively Omani charity bazaar attracted more than 500 people whom throng to the venue to support the event. The bazaar was held to raise money in support of charitable work done by the Al Rahma Charity team which provides assistance in kind and financial aid to poor families and orphanages.

Despite the fact that the organizer only sent the invitation to participate in less than a week’s time, the variety of things sold at the PERWAKILAN Muscat stall was more than impressive. Among popular item at the Malaysian stall is the Malaysian flags which were sold for 100 baisa per piece (80 cent), fridge magnets, batik painting kit, keropok ikan and keropok ubi. PERWAKILAN members also contributed Malaysian delicacies such as nasi kerabu, nasi dagang, nasi tomato, curry puff, kuih ketayap and the famous teh tarik which was sold for 200 baisa a cup.

Staff of the Embassy of Malaysia also took the opportunity to distribute tourism brochures and promotional items to those present at the event as part of the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 campaign. In general, most people whom visited the Malaysian stall had actually visited Malaysia before and many dropped by at the stall to reminisce their wonderful experience in Malaysia. Being the only country that was able to set up booth at the charity bazaar in the midst of the local community was indeed an achievement in itself. Malaysia Boleh!
