Rawiyah attends Islamic forum in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR Her Excellency Dr Rawiyah Bint Saud Al Busaidiyah, Minister of Higher Education, took part in activities of the fifth Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research (ICMHESR) on Tuesday.

The conference is being hosted in the Malaysian capital from October 19 to 21.

Under the theme ‘Enculturation of Quality in Academia, Research and Innovation towards Prosperity of Ummah’, the first day of the conference covered various issues related to higher education and scientific research and issues of science and technology issued by the Foreign Ministers’ Council in its 36th session held in Damascus during May 2009.

The conference also discussed stages of implementing development strategy of sciences, technology and innovation in the Islamic countries.

A round-table meeting will be held to discuss means of enabling woman in scientific, technological, development, economic and social fields on the sidelines of the conference’s activities.

The conference will touch on topics of quality, research and innovation to prepare a strategy to develop nanotechnology in the Islamic countries among others.

The Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research is being held since 2000. It is supervised by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) in collaboration with the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) with partnership of the hosting country.
