Saturday Brunch with the Malaysian Community in Muscat

The Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman organized a “Saturday Brunch” at the official residence of the Ambassador of Malaysia to Oman on the 14 March 2015. The idea, mooted by H.E. Umardin Hj Abdul Mutalib, gathered almost 70 Malaysians residing in Oman whom came with their family members to meet and interact with fellow Malaysians. The programme intended to bring cohesiveness among the Malaysian community as part of the on-going Program Mendampingi rakyat Malaysia di Luar Negara.

 

The sunny and cool day was spent enjoying the special nasi lemak prepared by Puan Faridah Shariff, wife of the ambassador, and other local delicacies brought by the Malaysian ladies. Aside from exchanging stories, a painting competition was held for adults and children alike to showcase their talents in transferring images of the official residences onto canvas.

 

At the event, the Malaysian community also took the opportunity to pass the hat around for the Oman Down Syndrome Day which will be held on 21 March 2015. At last count a  total of OMR660 (RM6,138.00) was collected and will be handed over to the Oman Down syndrome Association as part of the Malaysian community charity effort.

 

By noon, H.E. Ambassador and wife joined in presenting prizes to winners of the novice (pre-school), amateur (primary/high school) and professional (adult) category. Token of appreciations were also presented to individuals for their assistance during the half day event. Puan Faridah Shariff, President of PERWAKILAN Muscat also took the opportunity to present prizes to the winners of the Best Decorated Stall during the Malaysian Street Food Bazaar 2015 held last 21 February 2015.
