THE HANDING OVER CEREMONY OF ASEAN COMMITTEE MUSCAT CHAIRMANSHIP AND 4TH MEETING; 8 JULY 2013

The Ambassador of Malaysia, H.E. Dato’ Rustam Yahaya attended the Handing Over Ceremony of ASEAN Committee Muscat (ACM) Chairmanship and its 4th Meeting on 8 July 2013. The meeting was hosted by H.E. Joselito A. Jimeno, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines at Palayok Restaurant, Al Khuwair, Muscat.

 

The event began with the Handing Over Ceremony of ACM Chairmanship by the outgoing Chair, H.E. Dato’ Dr. Awang Haji Besar bin Haji Abu Bakar, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the incoming Chair, H.E. Sukanto, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia. The Committee later held its 4th Meeting   duly attended by all Ambassadors of ASEAN member states based in Muscat among others Ambassadors of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. The meeting discussed various issues of concern.

 

Following the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Joselito A. Jimeno and Madam Jimeno hosted a lunch for the ASEAN Ambassadors, their spouses and other officials. The Consul General of Singapore and spouse were also invited for lunch.

 

The ASEAN Committee Muscat (ACM) was established in January 2013 and currently being Chaired by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia. The Chair will hold the post for a period of six months which will be rotated among the ASEAN Ambassadors in accordance with alphabetical orders of the countries.  So far, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand have their diplomatic missions set up in Muscat, while Singapore has set up a Consulate General in Muscat in June 2013.
