On 12 May 2024, the Embassy in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia organised a Sales Mission to Muscat, Oman at Sheraton Oman Hotel. H.E. Shaiful Anuar Mohammad, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Sultanate of Oman led the Malaysian delegation comprising 24 establishments representing state tourism board, travel operators, and hoteliers.
In his welcoming remarkas H.E. Ambassador Shaiful Anuar Mohammad informed that in 2023, Malaysia welcomed 164,568 tourists from West Asia, signifying a positive increment of 85.88% compared to 88,534 tourists in 2022. From Oman, Malaysia received 18,078 tourists in 2023.
As part of the promotion efforts, Malaysia will continue to promote its flagship tourism products that West Asian travellers love, such as luxury escapades, shopping, fun-filled holidays with the whole family, honeymoon, and eco-adventure tours.
H.E. Ambassador Shaiful Anuar Mohammad further highlighted that the Visit Malaysia Year will take place in 2026. In this regard, Malaysia has set an ambitious target of 35.6 million foreign tourist arrivals that will also commemorate the sustainability of the nation's tourism industry, which is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG).
