Malaysians and Muslims in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan celebrated Eid-ul-Adha on Saturday, 28th November 2009. In Karachi, the celebration kicked off with Eid Prayer held inside the Chancery building, which was attended by 60 Malaysians including students and children.
The Consul General in his brief remarks before the Eid Prayer, among others, reminded fellows Malaysians on the spirit of sacrifice and brotherhood in Islam. He also urged all presence to always keep in touch with the Consulate as to get the latest news and happenings in Pakistan and Malaysia.
After the Eid Prayer, the Consul General and Madame Aniza Khalid hosted an Eid-ul-Adha reception serving a sumptuous Malaysian traditional "Raya delicacies" including Nasi Minyak, Rendang Daging, Kari Ayam, Mee Hoon Goreng, Nasi Dagang, and etc.
This year also the Consulate organise a "Majlis Korban" where 4 Cows or Gaa'e (Gaa'e in Urdu meant Cow) were sacrified at an event held at a well reputed Madrassah in Karachi, with the participation of Consul General, Consulate Officials and Malaysians. The meat were later distributed to the Madrassah and orphanages around the city.
