CALL ON HON. CHIEF MINISTER OF SINDH
KARACHI, 22 September 2010 - Mr. Mohd Khalid Abdul Razak, Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi today held a meeting with Hon. Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh at the Chief Minister House, Karachi. The purpose of the meeting was to apprised the Hon. Chief Minister on the relief assistance that been undertaken by Malaysian Government through the Consulate Office in Karachi thus far and also to deliver some relief items for the floods victims in Sindh.
The Consul General highlighted the close relationship of the Malaysian Palm Oil Industry with Pakistan where 66% of the total edible oil requirement of the country is met by Malaysia’s edibles. In this time of need, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) and individual edibles companies of Malaysia has initiated a fund amounting to US$450,000 as to purchase essential palm based food items for distribution to the affected people of catastrophic floods in Pakistan. In this respect, the Consul General handed over 2000 kilograms of Banasphati Oil to the Chief Minister along with 120 Ufilta Bottles, a patented Ultra- Filtration membrane technology from Malaysia that could filter water from any source esp. flood water and ready to drink instantly.
The Consul General reiterated Malaysia’s continues support and solidarity with the people and Government of Pakistan in meeting these challenges, especially in extending all efforts for the flood victims and rehabilitation process in Sindh.
