HYDERABAD: Palm Oil export consists 80% of the Malaysian trade, whereas Pakistan is the second largest country importing palm oil from Malaysia. This was stated by the Malaysian Consul General Abu Bakar Mamat addressing at the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, here Thursday.
He said tourism was there next biggest industry as more than 24 million tourists visit Malaysia every year, while the population of Malaysia itself is only 28 million. He invited Pakistani investors to make Malaysia as their "second home", as this way they could do business and be able to enjoy facility of multiple visas along with their families for 10 years.
Consul General informed that Malaysia provides international standard education at fees 30% less than that of European universities. Presently about 2000 Pakistani students are pursuing their higher education in Malaysia.
He said the visa fee for Malaysia was very low. It is only Rs.600 and one can get visa for one month. The businessmen can ask for extension in their visa for another month, while they are in Malaysia.
He said that presently Malaysia imports basmati rice from Pakistan which is about 8-9% of its total rice imports. He added that Halal meat from Pakistan can be imported provided it meets the requirements of "Halal" slaughtering, hygiene and animal health standards. He said presently about 1.0 million chicken are used daily in Malaysia; therefore, poultry feed could be exported to Malaysia.
He said Malaysia is having expertise in producing Halal meat, animal hygiene and animal health. Pakistani people can take advantage from the experience of Malaysia.
The Consul General was accompanied by Vice Consul Azmir Suzli Ibrahim and Regional Manager of Palm Oil Board Muhammad Fairus Hidzir.
Earlier, Gohar Ullah President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry welcoming the distinguished guests said that although Pakistan has friendly ties with Malaysia but the total volume of their trade is only up to 2.8 billion US dollars, which needs to be enhanced with the efforts of business community of both the countries. He said Hyderabad is the second largest city of Sindh and industrial hub of this area.
In He said there were enormous opportunities for investment in energy sector, development of infrastructure and construction of highways.
