MERCY Malaysia Donated Dialysis Machine to Mirpukhas Civil Hospital
Karachi: 31 May 2012, The Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY Malaysia) donated a dialysis machine worth USD$15,000 to Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital in Sindh, Pakistan as part of the NGO’s efforts to help reconstruct and rehabilitate health centres. The machine was handed over to the hospital by CG Abu Bakar Mamat in the presence of Vice President of MERCY Malaysia Norazam Ab Samah and Mirpurkhas District Commissioner Ghulam Hussain Memon.
Currently, MERCY Malaysia is undertaking flood relief efforts called WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) project in Sindh following last year’s devastating flood in the province. Apart from rehabilitating health facilities, the project includes installation of water hand-pumps, Reverse Osmosis filtration systems and household latrines as well as distribution of hygiene kits to the villagers in the affected areas.
MERCY’s project in Sindh is funded by the contribution made by the government and people of Malaysia worth US1 million, which was handed over by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia to the NGO in February this year.
