Merdeka celebration in Karachi
The Consulate General of Malaysia and PERWAKILAN Karachi jointly hosted an Iftar and Majlis Doa Selamat on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the Independence of Malaysia on 31 August 2010 at the Consulate compound in Karachi. A big turnout of more than 80 Malaysians, local recruited staff including students residing in Karachi attended the momentous event. The programme of the evening started with breaking fast. Maghrib prayer followed by flag rising ceremony along with singing of National Anthem by all present. The Consul General delivered a brief speech before the guests were treated to authentic Malaysian cuisines including Nasi Tomato, Ayam Masak Merah, Kari Daging, Satay, Mee Goreng, Acar, Nasi Beriani Kambing, kueh and variety of fresh seasonal fruits. The programme continued with the Isyak and Tarawih prayers followed by Tahlil and Doa Selamat.
