Karachi, January 16 -- Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities of Malaysia Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas launches Malaysian Palm Oil Board pocketbook on Palm Oil Uses in the Urdu language during the Malaysia-Pakistan Palm Oil Trade Fair and Seminar here. The booklet covers information on the Malaysian palm oil industry and the uses in food and non-food applications of palm oil.
Also present at the ceremony were High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan Dato’ Dr. Hasrul Sani Mujtabar, Malaysia’s Consul-General in Karachi Abu Bakar Mamat, Malaysian Palm Oil Council Chairman Datuk Lee Yeow Chor, Malaysian Palm Oil Board Director-General Datuk Dr Choo Yuen May and MPOC Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Dr Yusof Basiron.
Earlier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas inaugurated the Palm Oil Trade Fair and Seminar. The seminar offers edible oils and fats players a platform to discuss issues affecting trade and palm oil business between Malaysia and Pakistan. Pakistan is the third largest export destination for Malaysian palm oil after China and India. Total imports of Malaysian palm oil and palm oil products to Pakistan in 2012 reached 1.44 million tonnes, valued at US1.34 billion.
