Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia (MOHE) along with 10 Malaysian higher education institutions participated in the Pakistan International Education Exhibition, held at the Karachi Expo Centre from 11 to 13 March 2011. The participating universities from Malaysia were University Malaya, University Sains Malaysia, University Malaysia Terengganu, University Teknologi Petronas, Limkokwing University, Binary University College, Asia Pacific University College of Technology and Innovation (UCTI), Segi University College, Taylors University College and Legenda Education Group.
The Consul General of Malaysia, Mr. Mohd Khalid Abdul Razak was given the honour to officiate and declare open the exhibition on 11 March 2011 at Karachi Expo Centre. Consul General in his brief remarks stated that Malaysia has seen an increase of students from abroad – particularly from Pakistan in recent years owing to its world-class and cost-effective education, hassle-free administration and emigration procedures, safe and friendly environment, cosmopolitan culture and high quality of living. He also expressed great enthusiasm on the timely endeavour by the organizer i.e. World Learning Bureau of Pakistan and assured of all the support from his office and Government of Malaysia.
The two days exhibition was able to gather many leading foreign educational intuitions from Malaysia, UK, Australia, Ireland, North Cyprus, UAE and Pakistan to set up stalls displaying literature on the programmes and courses. Malaysia special country pavilion was the most visited booth for students and visitors for queries and also to explore possibilities of foreign collaboration.
The 16 strong delegation members also had the opportunity to interact with Consul General during a meeting at the Consulate office followed by a dinner hosted by Consul General in honour of the delegation at Rumah Malaysia. Before departing back to Malaysia, the delegation participated in a ‘Networking Luncheon’ hosted by the education fraternity of Karachi.
