On 20th December 2009, Malaysian High Commission hosted the Christmas Party for the Simon of Cyrene Center (SCC); an orphanage home for 100 of children that are parentless, or children with HIV that left on the street. The Christmas Party took place at Aviary Site, Botanical Garden and alongside 100 of orphanage kids, it was attended by The NCD Governor; Honorable Mr. Powes Parkop, all the Malaysian High Commission?s staff with their families, Malaysian Associations of PNG President, and some of Malaysian business houses that are very generous to support the event and contribute physically and morally to make sure the party were successful.

In the interview with the media, Malaysian High Commissioner; Datin Blanche Olbery said, being the multi-cultural society, Malaysian celebrated various event including the Christmas Eve and the party was done to follow the ?1Malaysia? spirit, where everybody?s beliefs and cultures are fairly respected. In conjunction with the party that was planned for all the staff and families, it would be much better if the Christmas? joy and happiness to be shared with the needed, especially the children.
Hamper Presentation to the ChildrenIn the event, Malaysian High Commission contributes a hamper for all the orphanages, and all the LRS staff. In addition, SCC which is represented by Father Jude Rhonayne-Ford received donation for a food supply containing 100kg of rice, flour, salt and cooking oil for the usage of the orphanage house. The hamper and donation presentation was done by Hon. NCD Governor, Mr. Powes Parkop accompanied by H.E. Datin Blanche Olbery. The children also received present from Santa Claus throughout the day and take part in the games event that was organized for the party.
In the other hand, Hon. Powes Parkop and Fr Jude thanking the Malaysian High Commission for organizing the Christmas Party for the children and the donation for the SCC. It?s should changed their thought about Malaysia, that even it is mainly Muslim country, but still celebrating Christmas like other places else.
