The High Commission of Malaysia in Port Moresby hosted a ‘Majlis Bersama Rakyat Malaysia’ under the ‘Program Mendampingi Rakyat Malaysia 2013’. It was held at the Grand Palace Restaurant, a Malaysian restaurant and was attended by more than 60 Malaysians living and working in Port Moresby.
PYT Datin Seri High Commissioner delivered a speech and updated fellow Malaysians on current issues in Malaysia that include national transformation programme, postal voting for Malaysians overseas and situation in Lahad Datu. The High Commissioner also informed about Talent Corp’s Returning Expert Programme which is relevant for Malaysians in Papua New Guinea. Besides speech by the High Commissioner, six Malaysians were also invited as Guest Speakers and shared their stories and experiences in Papua New Guinea. The speakers were Ms. Cindy Tan of Tango Departmental Store; Ms. Joyce Lee of Travel Planners & Tours Ltd, Ms. Doreen Tan of Sign Tech Advertising Ltd; Mr. Leroy Hugh Louis of Heduru Moni Ltd, Mr. Khu Heong Chye of WR Carpenter Ltd and Mr. Ivan Lu of Rimbunan Hijau Group of Companies. The High Commissioner later presented to each speaker a Certificate of appreciation.
