PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS TO GOVERNOR GENERAL OF SOLOMON ISLANDS, 21 AUGUST 2014

On 21 August 2014, His Excellency Jilid Kuminding, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Papua New Guinea, accredited to Solomon Islands and Republic of Vanuatu presented the Letter of Credence to the Governor-General of Solomon Islands, His Excellency Sir Frank Kabui at Government House.

 

The High Commissioner was accompanied by Counsellor, Mr. Farzamie Sarkawi and Mr. Hii Yii Ging, Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

 

In his speech, the High Commissioner highlighted that Malaysia and Solomon Islands share similar views and aspirations at the regional and multiregional levels, on issues of mutual interests such as trade, investment, education, capacity building and environmental conversation.  The High Commissioner further described bilateral relations between Malaysia and Solomon Islands as in the forward momentum and expressed hope that both nations to further intensify their efforts in strengthening and deepening the relations.

 

His Excellency Sir Kabui responded by saying that the Solomon Islands Government concurred with the views and also described Malaysia as an important partner to Solomon Islands.  Both nations shared fundamental values and principle of democracy, mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, human dignity and development aspirations that aim to enhance the well-being of their respective citizens.

The High Commissioner also met with fellow Malaysians residing in Honiara and visited their business operations.
