THE MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT DONATED USD25,000 HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE TO THE PAPUA NEW GUINEAN GOVERNMENT, 28 MARCH 2012
 
The High Commission of Malaysia in Port Moresby on behalf of the Government of Malaysia handed over humanitarian assistance of USD25,000 to the Government of Papua New Guinea to assist the victims of the recent devastating landslide in the Southern Highlands Province as well as the tragedy of the sinking of the MV Rabaul Queen in Lae.
 
The cheque was handed over by Her Excellency Datin Seri Blanche Olbery to the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Hon. Peter O’Neill at his Morauta House Office. On behalf of the government and people of Papua New Guinea, the Hon. Prime Minister thanked the government and people of Malaysia for the donation. Her Excellency High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr. Azman Rahim, Counsellor of the High Commission of Malaysia. The cheque presentation ceremony was also witnessed in the presence of the Chief of Staff of Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Gideon Oli, MBE.
 
The humanitarian assistance was a clear manifestation of close friendship ties and bilateral relations between Malaysia and Papua New Guinea.
