VISIT TO THE TEMBARI CHILDREN CENTER AND CHEQUE PRESENTATION BY THE MALAYSIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER AND THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF THE MALAYSIAN ASSOCIATION OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA (MAPNG) ON 20 AUGUST 2011
The Malaysian High Commissioner, H.E. Datin Seri Blanche Olbery, who is also the Patron of the Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea (MAPNG) together with the committee members of the Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea (MAPNG), President, Mr. Nathaniel Ho, Mr. Ivan Lu, Mr. Chew Pang Heng and Mr. Cody Lau visited the Tembari Children Center and presented a cheque donation of Kina 40,000 to the President of the Centre, Mr. Hayward Sagembo. It was part of the fund raised at the Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea MBC Charity Golf 2011 and Presentation Night/Thank you dinner held on 22 and 23 July 2011 respectively. The visit was organised by the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the MBC Charity Golf, Mr. Ivan Lu.
The Malaysian High Commissioner informed that the Malaysian Community will continue to help Tembari through funds it will raise every year and the fund is the only way for them to help the children to improve their lives.
The Tembari Children's Care (TCC) is located in Oro Settlement, 7-Mile, outside Port Moresby, the centre looks after abandoned neglected and orphaned children. It feeds the children twice a day and provides them pre-school and elementary education through the support of individuals, foundations and corporate entities.
Mr. Hayward Sagembo, the President of the centre informed that part of the K40,000 would go towards building a double-classroom structure for pre-school children and the rest would support the centre’s daily feeding operations and other urgent needs.
