Al-Mosnad Welcomed a Malaysian Delegation For Strengthening The Cooperation Opportunities Between Qatar & Malaysia

At the premises of the QCCI, Ali Abdul Latif Al-Mosnad, member of the board, on 21 Jan 2009 met a commercial Malaysian delegation. Al-Mosnad started his speech voicing his welcome and thanks for the attendance and praising the relations between Qatar and Malaysia in all fields. Nagappan Subbish Chettiar,head of the Malaysian delegation, assured that the aims of the visit is strengthening relations and enhancing the trade cooperation between the two countries, noting that Qatar is the third station of that commercial tour after Abu Dhabi and Dubai. "The trade volume between Qatar and Malaysia is increasing despite the global crisis??, he added. On the sidelines of the meeting, one-to-one talks were held between the Qatari businessmen and their counterparts of the Malaysian delegation on developing the relations between the private sector in the two countries. Representatives from the Embassy of Malaysia in Doha were also present during the meeting.
Statistics say the trade volume between Qatar and Malaysia increased from $345 m to $579 m in the first nine months of 2009 compared to the same period of 2008. While crude oil, chemicals and petrochemical industries are Qatari major exports to Malaysia, Malaysian exports to Qatar include transportation, metals, foodstuffs,and electrical appliances.
The delegates then headed to the Embassy of Malaysia to pay a courtesy visit to HE Ambassador Dato' Muhammad Shahrul Ikram Yaakob.
