History

The Embassy of Malaysia in the Russian Federation was established in the late 60s after Malaysia and the then Soviet Union concluded a Trade Agreement on 3^rd April 1967 which established diplomatic relations between both nations. Malaysia was among the first ASEAN nation that established relations with the Soviet Union, moving out from its anti-communist and pro-western posture to more non-aligned and postured towards neutrality, peaceful co-existence and independence including developing contacts and diplomatic relations with communist countries.

The Embassy of Malaysia in the Russian Federation is among the largest Mission deployed by the Government of Malaysia abroad with a compliment of 14 Home-Based-Staff and 16 Locally-Recruited Staff.
