On 16 September 2014, the Embassy of Malaysia in Moscow held a reception on the occasion of the 57th Anniversary of Independence Day and Malaysia Day at the Radisson Slavyanskaya Hotel in Moscow. About, 500 guests from the various Russian Departments and Ministries, members of the Diplomatic Corps, the corporate and business sectors and Malaysian nationals attended the reception. Mr. Andrei A. Tatarinov, Director of the Third Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation attended the reception as the Guest of Honour representing the Russian Government.
In his remarks, the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar outlined Malaysia’s various achievements and elaborated on Malaysia’s vision of becoming a high-income developed nation. The Ambassador also informed on various programmes being implemented by the Malaysian Government including the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP). On Malaysia-Russia bilateral relations, the Ambassador reiterated that Malaysia values its relations with the Russian Federation and hopes for greater bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, tourism and education.
