The Embassy of Malaysia in the Russian Federation organized its Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations or Uraza Bayram as it is known locally on 20 September 2009. Dato' Mohamad Khalis, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation, YBhg. Datin Saripah Khalis, staff members and family as well as the Malaysian community from the Muslim faith in Moscow. Dato' Ambassador in his speech immediately after prayers took the opportunity to wish all present Selamat Hari Raya as well as urge everyone to understand and observe the sermon which called for the Muslims to continue working together in unity and harmony as envisioned in the 1Malaysia concept proposed by YAB Perdana Menteri. Later in the day, the Embassy opened its doors for all Malaysians for the Eid-ul-Fitr Open House which was hosted by H.E. Dato' Mohamad Khalis and YBhg. Datin Saripah Khalis. The event, which saw the participation of more than 600 Malaysians, Russians and other nationals, started at 3.00pm and lasted for almost 3 hours. Guests were served with traditional Raya delights such as nasi impit, kuah kacang, rendang, nasi minyak as well as Raya cookies and cakes prepared by PERWAKILAN Moscow. Traditional raya tunes blasted away in the background throughout the event, further creating the raya ambiance in a land far away from home.
