On 14 May 2025, YAB PM was received by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, at the Kremlin. Both leaders then proceed to the restricted meeting (6-on-6 format), followed by an extended meeting.
The meeting strengthened Malaysia-Russia relations, with discussions encompassing economic cooperation, science, technology, innovation, higher education, agriculture, the halal industry, culture, tourism, defence and security.
They also exchanged views on regional and international issues, including ASEAN-Russia Dialogue relations, BRICS, Strategic Vision Group, Russia-Ukraine Peace Deal, and the situation in Palestine.
This engagement underscored a shared commitment to fostering robust bilateral ties and global cooperation between the two countries.
