On 21 March 2012, H.E. Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation made a courtesy call on H.E. Morgulov Igor Vladimirovich, the new Deputy Minister at the Russian Foreign Ministry. H.E. Morgulov was appointed as the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation in December 2011. During the meeting H.E. Dato’ Zainol and H.E. Morgulov discussed the state of bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Russian Federation namely in the fields of education, trade, investment, military cooperation, tourism, science and high technology. Both sides also exchanged views on how to enhance cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels. H.E. Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar was of the view that there should be more high level visits between the two countries and he welcomed more Ministerial visits from the Russian side. He also expressed Malaysia’s interest to see more Russian tourists visiting Malaysia. The meeting was conducted in a very cordial atmosphere which clearly reflected the excellent bilateral relations.
