From 20–23 March 2026, TYT Dato’ Ambassador participated in a familiarisation visit to the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, organised by the MFA-RF State Protocol, Gazprom, and the local government. The delegation comprising Ambassador & representatives from Malaysia, Singapore, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Slovakia and Türkiye met Governor Dmitry Artyukhov and his team. The programme covered two key locations: 1st, Salekhard, the only city in the world located on the Arctic Circle; and 2nd, Novy Urengoy, Russia’s gas capital Engagements, including with indigenous communities, provided insights into sustainable resource management, cultural preservation, and development in extreme environments. The visit also highlighted potential avenues to strengthen Malaysia-Russia cooperation in energy, education, and people-to-people ties.
